What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) helps websites be found in search engines (yes, like Google) for certain queries.

How do we do that? Well, it’s a broad spectrum of activities that go together to make a website valuable for the searcher, as well as valuable in the eyes of Google, who make the call as to whether you rank on first page or in the invisible abyss (page 2 and beyond of search results).

What Happens for SEO at Gumbo Web Advice?

At Gumbo, we do two SEO things:

  1. Optimise existing websites for SEO, or,

  2. Incorporate SEO optimisation into new websites that are project managed via Gumbo.

And to be honest, so many sites are in such poor shape, or ancient, need an aesthetic overhaul or will take longer to ‘optimise’ retrospectively, we usually go for Option 2.

Better SEO often comes from either a complete rebuild of simpler websites based on a sound SEO strategy to create the structure, or creating SEO-optimised ‘catchment’ pages on bigger existing websites, tailored specifically to rank for one keyword per page.
